Dune and Lawrence of Arabia

Both are about young men from imperial powers who go to live among oppressed nomadic Arabs, and wind up leading them to decisive, surprising military conquests. I think there are more obvious parallels. So does this mean anything? I couldn’t sell my parents on it.
