“A Lesson Is Learned” backend re-written: when? why?

I just noticed that the backend for the “A Lesson Is Learned” comic archives (required reading, for those unfamiliar) seems to have been re-done in php. When did this happen? Does it mean anything? Since the David and Dale retired from ALIL more than a year ago, there’ve been no real updates. Why change now? Are more comics coming? Oh please let there be more comics omg omg
